About Rohan Healy: Rohan Healy, born 1986; an Irish performer, songwriter and producer spent the early part of his life and career between Ireland and Australia. Educated at Trinity Catholic College, Lismore and Australian Theatre for Young People, at 15 Rohan began a fulltime career in music. Rohan has played over 1,000 shows; guitar with father David Healy/David Virgin (respected songwriter/musician in Australia and Ireland, has shared the stage with Nick Cave, INXS, Mary Black and more) on tours with the likes of Cat Power, Billy Bragg and Lloyd Cole, performing solo across Australia, Ireland and Europe, and currently with brother Alex in The Dublin City Rounders.
The Rounders enjoy international airplay on RTE Radio (Arena, Roots Freeway, Ronan Collins), Newstalk, Busker Abu TG4 (Finalists), represented Ireland on The Voice UK, have performed at Aras an Uachtarain and US Ambassador’s Residence, and shared the stage with international acts including Grammy Winner Jim Lauderdale, Wheatus and Mark Olson (Jayhawks). Between 2014- 2017 they performed over 600 shows across Ireland/UK, recording 5 albums; one of the hardest-working acts in the country. Rohan is involved with Stewarts Care where he performs for those with special needs monthly, the past three years.
He has released 10 solo albums on label Beardfire Music (PPI) of which he is owner and CEO. Beardfire’s roster includes Rohan, David Virgin, The Rounders and Quiffs N Coffins. Rohan has produced dozens of artists’ recordings which have won critical praise including “Irish Times Song-of-the-Week” and multiple “EP of 2016” awards. He scores for film, writes/produces music for radio advertising, and has almost 300 songs registered with IMRO.
Rohan founded the DCR Alt-Country Song Contest in 2016 in association with IMRO, obtained a certificate of achievement in the CISAC University course “Exploring Copyright” in 2017, writes a series of popular articles for web-zine Ceol Caint, and is invited to speak regularly on songwriting, copyright and the music business sharing his 15yrs experience in music.
Rohan is a radio DJ and host of The Irish Music Business Show on 103.2 Dublin City FM and was nominated as a candidate in the 2017 IMRO Board of Directors Elections. Rohan is passionate about all aspects of the music business; writing, recording, publishing and performing.
